The wheels are beginning to fall off the main stream media’s Biden bandwagon.  Over the weekend, the New York Times revealed the startling news that David Weiss, Delaware US Attorney and now Department of Justice appointed special counsel, almost let the president’s son walk scott free.  Buffaloed by Hunter’s “fiery white-collar defense lawyer” who warned that “his legacy would be defined by how he handled this decision,” Weiss “came close to agreeing to end the investigation without requiring a guilty plea on any charges.”  The cozy arrangement only fell apart when outraged underlings blew the whistle.

Politico dropped a bombshell of its own, this weekend. The outlet for insiders reports that, during Halloween of 2022, Hunter’s attorneys sent Weiss a 32-page letter threatening to wheel out Biden the Elder to defend the First Son on the witness stand, if needed.  Spooked, the 67-year-old agreed to drop the case and, as Politico reports, “insulate [Hunter] Biden from future prosecution.”

Meanwhile, the Washington Post added to the drama, on Sunday, with a deep dive into Weiss’ history “in a small state long politically dominated by [Joe Biden].”  The Beltway bellwether alerts readers that, “[a]lthough Democrats point to Weiss’s appointment by President Donald Trump as evidence of his independence, the full story of his career is more nuanced.”

Nuanced or tangled, Republicans agree that, in the words of Senator Lindsay Graham, “Mr. Weiss has been compromised.”
