As Johnny Depp pursues his defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard — who he claims destroyed his career with her allegations of spousal abuse — perhaps the thespian might spare a passing thought to his other nemesis, former President Donald J. Trump.

Last week, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign manager Robby Mook stunned official Washington with his courtroom confession that the candidate personally approved the Russia collusion smear against her Republican rival.  Under oath, Mook revealed that the campaign trafficked to the press what it knew to be unverified “data” that Trump had a back door channel to Moscow through a Russian bank.  Mook added, “I discussed it with Hillary, as well…. She agreed.”  Story successfully planted, the campaign went to work flogging the “news” far and wide.  One of its most tireless promoters was Jake Sullivan, then a senior policy advisor to the campaign, now currently serving as White House National Security Advisor.  The D.C. wunderkind traded on his reputation as a national security expert to spread the Russian bank disinformation which one FBI investigator describes as being concocted by someone “suffering from some mental disability.”

Reacting to this latest revelation, Trump tells Fox News, “For three years, I had to fight her off and fight those crooked people off.”  Like many a politician caught in the Clintons’ crosshairs, Trump asks, “Where do I get my reputation back?”  Ask Johnny.
