Instead of the circling the wagons, Washington Democrats are running for the hills, away from President Joe Biden’s classified documents mess.  West Virginia’s Senator Joe Manchin warns that Biden “should have a lot of regrets.” Senator Dick Durbin, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, tells CNN’s “State of the Union” that the president should be “embarrassed by the situation…. Let’s be honest about it. When that information is found, it diminishes the stature of any person who is in possession of it because it’s not supposed to happen.” Durbin adds, “The elected official bears ultimate responsibility.” For his part, the five term senator insists that he has never taken classified documents out of his office, “let alone the building.”

Senator Ron Wyden is, likewise, mystified by Biden’s apparent, decades-long, classified kleptomania. A senior member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Wyden supports a thorough FBI investigation “so there’s a message that nobody is above the law.” The Democrat maintains, “The rule I follow scrupulously is you don’t take documents out of the room.”

Despite five separate discoveries (and counting) of improper possession of classified material, Biden swears that he takes his responsibilities seriously. Members of his own party, however, appear to take Biden less and less seriously with each new embarrassing revelation.

Democratic Senator Jon Tester swears to learn “what the hell happened.” As he puts it, “This is about national security.”
