He may be a Democrat, but former New York Governor David Paterson can’t help being impressed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. On Sunday, during an interview with grocery chain mogul and radio show host John Catsimatidis, the elder statesman praised the Lone Star State’s scheme to bus hundreds of illegal immigrants the Big Apple. “The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has come up with … one of the most brilliant political strategies I’ve heard in a long time.” Paterson added, “I’m a Democrat. And there are a lot of things I don’t like about what he is doing. However, sometimes you have to tip your cap to your opponent.”

Despite New York City’s self proclaimed status as a sanctuary city for illegal border crossers, Mayor Eric Adams is seething over the influx. Reportedly, the mayor plans to house the new arrivals in a luxury Times Square hotel as the city struggles with overcrowding in its homeless shelters.

United States Border Patrol reports that the agency has encountered more than 1.8 million fence jumpers since the beginning of the fiscal year, the most ever recorded.

Texas border town mayor Javier Villalobos tells the Fox News, “You see New York, you see Washington [DC] kind of drowning with a few buses. The city of McAllen was able to deal with thousands of immigrants a day. I think they can handle a few hundred.”
