With polls showing the presidential race neck and neck, Democrats are going for the jugular: Donald Trump's ego. On Saturday, Vice President Kamala Harris announced that she has "gladly accepted" an invitation from CNN to hold a second debate on October 23rd, just two weeks before Election Day. To pile on the pressure, the Democratic Party has launched a fleet of mobile billboards to follow Trump on the campaign trail, depicting him in a chicken costume with the message, "There’s no debate: Donald Trump’s a chicken."

But the GOP nominee insists he is one and done with debating his current Democratic rival. As Trump explained on Truth Social after their September 10th face off, "When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, 'I WANT A REMATCH.'" While polls immediately following the 90-minute skirmish showed a large majority of voters named Harris as the victor, her debate win has not translated into swing-state gains. The New York Times reports that undecided voters were impressed by Harris' performance, but "what they wanted to hear — and didn’t — was the fine print."

Instead of more detail, however, Harris wants more debate to refocus voters away from her flip flips and back to a contrast with Trump. Details may have to wait until after Election Day. As a senior adviser explains to CNN, Harris is "a very busy person."
