The word in Washington: being president of the United States is hard — which may be why President Joe Biden’s chief of staff Ron Klain is reportedly eying the exits.  According to NBC News, multiple sources say that the White House maestro intends to jump ship after the upcoming congressional elections.  CNN anchor John King is sympathetic.  Last Friday, during a discussion of the Democratic Party’s expected November drubbing, the cable news host lamented, “It is much easier to be in the opposition party.”  The newsman pleaded with his audience, “Give the Democrats some grace. Governing is hard, especially when you have tiny margins.”

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden knows first hand how difficult it is to steer a rudderless ship.  During a small private dinner on the posh island playground of Nantucket, Massachusetts, the community college professor fretted that her husband “had so many hopes and plans for things he wanted to do, but every time you turned around, he had to address the problems of the moment.”  The beleaguered spouse revealed that she had expected to liaise with military families and promote cures for cancer, but between the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and Russian President Vladimir Putin upending Ukraine, “I had to be, with all that was happening, the First Lady of the moment.”  As for her husband and his ever sinking approval ratings, Biden’s moment appears to have come and gone.
