Resplendent in a $4,990 cream silk Ralph Lauren tuxedo dress on the August cover of Vogue, First Lady Jill Biden vows, "We will continue to fight."  After her husband's disastrous debate performance, last Thursday night, the battlefield now includes big money donors who are threatening to turn off the spigot.  As one major Democratic donor and former hedge fund manager tells the Daily Mail of the campaign's feeble reassurances, "They're pissing on our legs and telling us it's raining.  It's insulting.  How stupid do they think we are?"

The Vogue magazine cover isn't helping.  Former press secretary to the First Lady, Michael LaRosa, admits the 5400-word profile is “poor timing, no question about it.”  Between campaign stops and East Wing chit chat, "Call me Jill" makes clear that the job of president of the United States is a joint enterprise.

"I raised three kids, and did the food shopping for how many years before we got to this job?" she tells the sympathetic reporter.  New York Times White House correspondent Katie Rogers confirms that Dr. Jill is the president's "gut check and his closest confidant."

“Really, in so many different areas, I tell him what I’m seeing, what I’m hearing—and he gets it," the First Lady explains.  "And this is where the magic happens."

It will take more than magic to make her ambitions for a second term disappear.
